Common failure points for making co-design accessible include:
Barriers to participation are things that make it difficult for people to take part.
Organisations can be poorly placed to lead co-design, as they may have a history of mistreating the people they support. It can be difficult for the voices of people with lived experience to be heard and valued by the organisations that have failed them.
Consider an independent convener for sensitive co-design.
Unsurprisingly, many people don’t trust those organisations who claim to be doing co-design. For that reason, they're often more comfortable and confident with an independent convener.
